Defend European values
The EU is a democracy, whose pillar is the European society. Developing this European society further is a task which is everyone’s responsibility. Without European society, there is no European democracy. Not only democracy, but all European values (Art. 2 EUV) are threatened from within as well as from without. How can we make European democracy defensible and protect European values? Daniel Röder discussed these questions at the panel of Schader Foundation with Prof. Dr. Armin von Bogdandy and Prof. Claudia Wiesner moderated by Prof. Michèle Knodt in November 2022.

JUVE Awards 2022: Greenfort awarded as Law Firm of the Year for Frankfurt and Hesse
“Over the past two years, Greenfort has impressively demonstrated how a law firm not only holds its own under difficult market conditions, but also continues to further develop. The basis of this success is a consistent strategic orientation, combined with a high degree of internal willingness to cooperate and a great deal of pragmatism – the latter is also praised by clients.
These virtues have enabled the firm to get involved in numerous deals. The highlight was undoubtedly Andreas von Oppen’s advice to RTL on the acquisition of Gruner + Jahr – a deal that one would normally place with leading corporate practices. At the same time, the practice retains its clear strategic focus on small to mid-cap transactions, which is also supported by the strong notary’s office.
The team has also struck a nerve with the establishment of a corporate housekeeping practice for international groups of companies. This logical development of the established corporate law work demonstrates a business-oriented, pragmatic advisory approach. At the same time, the firm demonstrates its willingness to break new ground for such development projects and to adapt the structure of the firm by employing paralegals.
The fact that the labor law and dispute resolution practices are also convincing both with their own business and in cooperation with the corporate lawyers is a plus that gives the firm considerable stability, especially in the competitive Frankfurt market.” (statement of the JUVE editorial staff)

Let the pleadings begin!
Continuing the established tradition, Greenfort once again supported a team of students from the Goethe University Frankfurt in the preparations for this year’s Hugo Sinzheimer Moot Court, which will take place in June 2020. The case, which is embedded in “European Labour Law”, deals with current issues relating to the relocation of business operations to the private home office. Due to the current circumstances, the meeting with Anna Hauer and Johanna Keil did not take place in the offices as usually, but virtually. The students had the opportunity to present their pleadings in English. Afterwards, the content, style of presentation, legal aspects of the presented case as well as procedural tactics were discussed and debated in a joint session. The team had the opportunity to obtain suggestions, ideas and proposals for improvement from the practice.
The Hugo Sinzheimer Moot Court is an initiative of labour law lecturers at the University of Amsterdam. Its declared aim is to deepen and improve knowledge of labour law at European level. Since 2016, it has taken place on an annual basis – always in different European Member State. This year’s event was supposed to take place in Tbilisi, Georgia. However, due to the current situation, it will be held virtually. Germany will be represented for the third time by a team of tree students from the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. Greenfort wishes “our” team the best of luck and much success!
